Trials have been taking place in the use of electronic presentations as a better means of conveying material in Physical Geography and Statistics courses. Full lecture notes are prepared using the Microsoft PowerPoint software and are presented from a PC or laptop computer via an overhead projector and tablet, or a data-projector, to classes ranging in size from less than 20 to more than 100. The electronic presentation for each lecture is made available for student revisiting by placing the files on a server to which there is access from the teaching clusters of PCs. Students are instructed in the use of the PowerPoint viewer software and can review or print off the lecture notes at any stage after the material has been presented in class.

The approach has the following advantages:

The reaction of students to this approach has been favourable, and the range of courses presented in this manner is being extended.
